Minnesota still has over 1,260 members of National Guard personnel deployed overseas. This means there are many family members who will have a loved one absent for at least the next year. Also, many find themselves living on a reduced income because of the diff-erence in their pay scale. To assist these families during this difficult time, we are raising money to buy grocery gift cards to be distributed by the Minnesota Military Family Assistance Centers to those families in need of assistance.
100% of the money that is collected for the purchase of these gift cards is used for that purpose. We have volunteer help to handle all the clerical work and all other costs of the program are covered by our chapter.
Our members and friends have been very generous with their donations to get this program started, but the need for funds continues. Both the Minnesota National Guard and the Family Assisance Centers have acknowledged our efforts with certificates of appreciation. We share these accolades with all those who have donated money to the fund.
To date, we have donated more than $58,000.00.
